EIKON Award

    EIKON Award (+45)

EIKON #100 a special issue with three different covers by Susan MacWilliam, Katrín Elvarsdóttir, and Gabriele Rothemann.

I´m honored to be one of the three women awarded the EIKON Award +45.
On the occasion of the 100th issue of EIKON, the EIKON Award (45+) was launched under the patronage of VALIE EXPORT for European women photographers and media artists aged 45 and over. The addressees are oftentimes excluded from awards by age restrictions, in addition to still being marginalized on the art market on the basis of multiple aspects of their sexual identity. The aim of the award is not only to survey the current conditions in women’s art production, but also to draw attention to and sensitize a broad public for the delays in artistic development and practice of both late entrants and returning artists.

My portfolio is published in EIKON magazine along with a feature by Lucas Gehrmann Art Historian and Curator of Kunstalle Wien. The special issue is available here: EIKON shop.

Human;Nature at Martin Asbæk Gallery

                                           Human;Nature at Martin Asbæk Gallery

My work is included in the group exhibition Human;Nature at Martin Asbæk Gallery in relation to Copenhagen Photo Festival 2017. In this new exhibition, the gallery focuses on nature seen through the photographic medium. On view are works that reflect the artistic look on nature as well as the artist’s interpretation of it in relation to the human mind.
After mankind nature has through history been the most important inspiration to artists. Our relationship to nature can be interpreted in many ways and nature as a phenomenon itself is almost as complex as the concept of art. Man in nature and nature in man are colliding and moves the beholder out into a deep sea of emotions; happy, sad, dark, angry and romantic. Nature and man’s relation to it is of high relevance in today’s society. We have developed a society with such a strong attachment to technology that we have yet to understand fully how our own capacities can be enhanced by the power of nature. We pace forward in full speed, and life in the city distances us more and more from nature. We often forget to look out for the earth and nature that are making it possible for us to lead the life we do. In this group show you are however able to experience nature through the artist’s’ incredible interpretations hereof and dream yourself away from the tolls of everyday life and the huzzle and buzzle of the city.
